Rock - Aperture Book

This is an aperture binding which means that there is an opening in the covers and spine that looks through into the inside of the book with the book block becoming part of the outer design. It is a lovely book structure that invites creativity during the design process.

This book features some of my rock papers overlaid on a matt charcoal recycled leather cloth. The opening in the cover reveals another rock paper which forms part of the first inner section of the book.

The sewing that holds the book together shows in parallel lines of thread on the spine.

The interleaving papers are a textured sand coloured Hahnemuehle Ingres paper which are deckled as is the rest of the book block, adding to its organic and substantial feel.

The book block is made from an acid free paper, 170gsm, which is ideal for writing, drawing and sketch book purposes.
